In Jail With Robert

First draft of a desperate apology from a student to his teacher.

Transcript: “Dear Mrs. Naymick, I’m very sorry for what I did today. I didn’t think it was a big deal when I did it, but obviously I was wrong. I know it was very stupid and I can promise you that you will never have another problem with me again. I want to go into the army and if I get kicked out of Lyman then I will be in jail with Robert, and I wont be able to go in the Army. I Know how mad you are and I’m very sorry. I will get you more batteries or even a new remote if thats what it”

This note was recovered from a front yard while strolling in an Orlando neighborhood near Formosa and Princeton around 4 years ago. The nearest high school is NOT Longwoods’ Lyman High, which is more than 20min from where this note was recovered, but rather Edgewater High School.  The note was folded in half and water damage made a smudged mirror image of the words fade down the long, ledger-sized page. “Mrs. Tess Naymick”, a teacher at Lyman High, rates a 4.2 out of 5 on, with comments from students praising her approachability and willingness to explain things; the only dissenting comments call her “not challenging”.

  1. I found Tess Namick’s email and messaged her, referring her to this post and asking if she remembered this incident or had any comments. To date, she has not responded.
